Dear Reader:

Education is the key to unlocking a better future and life. Too often in the US, socioeconomic conditions hold children back from unleashing their full potential and achieving the American Dream. The divide between low and high performing students is only becoming worse. At the National Scholar Foundation (NSF), we believe middle and high school peer tutors will play an increasingly important role in helping primary and secondary school educators close the achievement gap in education in the 21st century. Our mission is to recognize and reward exceptional middle and high school peer tutors who have distinguished themselves in helping their peers and schools succeed. Since our founding, we have collaborated with national organizations, business and political leaders, as well as educators to create the first national peer tutoring scholarship competition. Many of our nation's biggest problems stem from the educational inequity in our communities; we believe our peer tutoring initiative will play a crucial role in demonstrating that America needs to put more focus on the growth and development of peer tutoring programs in primary and secondary schools. All profits from this book will be donated to the NSF Peer Tutoring Scholarship.

Sincerely,
